Don't do it Ronald! Stats show Everton re-signing Wayne Rooney would be a mistake

Stat Attack | Posted on by
With Wayne Rooney on the verge of a return to Everton, our exclusive stats at Oulala.com show his dramatic decline over the past five seasons and why the Toffees will be making a big mistake in re-signing the 31-year-old.
Our stats team have taken a look at seven key areas of Wayne Rooney's game over the last five Premier League campaigns for Manchester United, and the stats are damning, Rooney is dropping like a stone in every single area.
Since the beginning of the 2012/13 season, Rooney's best campaign came in 2013/14.
At the age of 28 and at the peak of his powers, Rooney was directly involved in 27 Premier League goals for Manchester United in 29 appearances, netting 17 goals and adding a further 10 assists.

His shots (3.5) and chances created (1.9) per game were at their highest, as was his conversion rate (17%).
Now, aged 31, Rooney's numbers are at their lowest.
He played fewer games (25) last season than in any of his previous four campaigns, scoring only five goals and recording just five assists.
Rooney's shots (2.1), successful passes (26) and chances created (1.4) per game were also all at their lowest, as was his conversion rate (10%).
A return to Everton next season would provide the much needed squad depth a side in Europe requires, as well as the leadership and experience Rooney can offer.
However, the negatives far outweigh the positives.
His numbers show he's on the decline, rapidly. A return to Everton will only disrupt a young, improving side.
