Liverpool player with 3 appearances already boasts better stats than in-form Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Stat Attack | Posted on by
Ahead of Liverpool's clash with Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend, we have taken a statistical look at how in-form midfielders Philippe Coutinho and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have compared so far this season.

Although Philippe Coutinho has made just three appearances in the Premier League, less than half than Henrikh Mkhitaryan has made (7), the Brazilian still leads the Armenian in five of the seven key areas analysed.

Coutinho is averaging 25 per cent more passes (60) per game than Mkhitaryan (45). However the United midfielder has enjoyed the better accuracy of the pair (85% to 83%).

Focusing on creativity, Mkhitaryan appears the more productive with five assists to Coutinho's one, however another stat paints a very different picture. Coutinho has averaged 4.7 key passes per game in each of his three appearances. In contrast, Mkhitaryan is averaging just three key passes per game, highlighting poor finishing from Coutinho's Liverpool teammates than a lack of chances created by the Brazilian.

Coutinho has been better when it comes to dribbling. He has averaged more than double (3.3) the amount of successful take-ons per game than Mkhitaryan (1.4).

Coutinho has also scored a goal more (2) than Mkhitaryan (1). While on a per minute basis overall, Coutinho has averaged a goal or an assist every 82 minutes. It has taken Mkhitaryan 93 minutes to do the same.
